The Out of State Placements Unit (OSP) conducts investigations into allegations of abuse and neglect involving New Yorkers placed at out-of-state approved facilities.  Currently, over 500 New Yorkers (children and adults with disabilities) reside in approximately 45 facilities in other states. Following an investigation, the OSP Unit works with the state funding agency to monitor corrective action plans to help ensure that protections are in place for these New Yorkers.
